Last night we took my parents and brother out to dinner. Today they are leaving to road trip out to Virginia and leaving my brother there for college. I am so sad. I know that he's not gone forever and I will see him again at Christmas time, but I will really miss being able to see him whenever and to spoil him.
He's pretty excited about college (as it should be). And Ben thinks it will be good for him to be so far away. I asked Jake last night if he knew how to do laundry. He said, "Yeah and I have two rolls of quarters!"
So happy for him. Good luck Jake!

Burrito Challange
As I mentioned in the previous post, we got some food at Wal-Mart. Since our kitchen was in boxes yet, we went the easy route and got some burritos for $1 each. Not that you can expect anything too great out of $1 burrito, but they were bad! Neither one of us finished.
A couple of days later (maybe - or maybe the next day? Time is a blur during the move) we were at Costco and picked up two packages of burritos - one that is refrigerated and cost $2.50 per burrito and another that was frozen for $0.50 per burrito.
We have concluded our taste test comparison... The winner is... the expensive ones! Second place goes to the frozen ones. So, I guess sometimes you get what you pay for.
We are slowly working through the boxes that clutter our new house. I thought unpacking would be the easy part, but turns out it's not... It's tough to try and decide where you want things. Sure, we can rearrange stuff, but we would at least like most things to be where we actually want them.
Last night was National Night Out. We went to our "old" neighborhood for a potluck BBQ. It was fun to see everyone "one last time" (but I know we will be around and some neighbors (Robin) we will still keep in touch with). When we left to go home, it was the first time that I felt sadness about our move. I had moments of sadness before, but this time I could feel it. They really are a nice group of neighbors. And I will miss them.

The Move: Day 2 - Movers and Rain
Yesterday we woke up bright and early (and yes, without proper shades it was bright!). We ate a wholesome breakfast of Graham crackers and water on the way to the old place. We met the movers there and they loaded up the furniture. I told Ben that was just about the best money spent.
While they were loading up everything, it started to rain. Great. They did use floor mats and runners, but we still had some tracks on the old floor. Ben told them nicely that the new place was NEW and to try to be as careful as possible. By the time we got to the new place it had pretty much stopped raining. Zoey was going nuts, so we went on a nice long walk while Ben directed the movers.
After the movers left, Ben stayed at the new place waiting for the cable guy and TV delivery guy to come. Zoey and I went back to the old place to clean a little (boy does under furniture collect the dust, hair and crap!) and pack some more boxes.
We ended our day with a trip to Wal-Mart for some dinner and breakfast.

The Move: Day 1
Yesterday was closing! It went fine. I few odd things came up, like our second mortgage (which we need until we get "rid" of the old place) was set up through a local bank. The bank requires direct withdrawal from one of their accounts for the loan... so we have a new bank account. Weird. But other than that, all the paperwork was signed and faxed in.
Prior to close we had our final walk through of the house. Then we loaded up my parent's van between walk through and close. After close we unloaded the van into our new place! It was then that the excitement really hit.
After that load, we came back to the house. My mom came over to help with the remaining kitchen packing while another friend came over and helped take apart our bed. We loaded up the van and an SUV and headed back to the new place.
My dad came by and helped with the bed while my mom unpacked the kitchen. And while this was going on, Ben and I came back to the old place to make sure that the stuff the movers are moving was easily accessible.
It was a long day! I was so happy that when we got to the new place the bed was all set up and ready to be slept on!

Test Four and More
Today's test started off easy. It is divided into 5 parts. The first part I feel awesome about. But then the next two segments were tough. Word on the street is that the first part is a sort of pre-test to see what you know. If you do well "they" give you hard questions... Not sure if that's true but today it felt like it. The final two segments were ok. I think I did well on them. Hard to know for sure. Guess we will find out in September!
So, tonight I'm taking a break and then I will start studying again. Oh joy. To add to the fun of studying, I will be also filling my "spare" time with packing... Yep. Ben, Zoey and I are moving! (And our fish too). More on that another time. Need to fill up the garbage and recycle bins because tomorrow is garbage day!

Long Nails and Bites
For some reason (I blame Hollywood) guys with long pinkie nails just freak me out. I'm not talking about "I just need to trim them" nails, I'm talking about the ones that are longer than most girl's and obviously well taken care of. So if you're not in some Chinese gang, why the long nails? Freaky.
Yesterday I was up at a lake for Ben's team's outing. It was a lot of fun! But within the first 5 minutes I got two bites from horse flies. Within inches of each other on my left calf. And they hurt. Seriously. I'm fine when I'm sitting, but if I straighten it out to stand or walk it is incredibly painful. After I study tonight I will take some Benadryl to see if that helps (if I do it now, I'll just fall asleep). I was going to go for a run this afternoon, but I think I'll just sit around with my leg bent instead.

Holding Steady at 25
Last weekend I got my test results. Not good. But not terrible either. I got a 71 and a 72 (75 is passing). So I was oh-so-close! It really stinks to be that close because it means just probably 2 more correct answers and I would have passed. So, instead of ending this study filled life the middle of July, I will still be at it for a while. :(
The current plan is to try and take both sections in August. September is the closed month (no testing available) so I will have my results by the end of that month. The reason being is that my grandfather period expires on Jan 1, Dec is a closed month so if I don't pass again (please no!!!) I will need to take whatever sections by November 30.
Well, off to study for my July 15 test.
